Halloween is over...ready for the Great Winter Hunt?

The Haunted Territories event came to an end a few days ago, but hunters should not get the post-sugar rush depressions....it is time in about a month for the Great Winter Hunt of 2013!

What can you do to prepare for it? Well, nothing really, but it never hurts to have gold on hand!

During this interim window between the two popular events, many veteran hunters take the time to accomplish their own personal tasks, like completing come silver crowns, doing treasure maps, or participating in tournaments. For me personally, I am doing a treasure map and trying to catch that elusive Black Widow!

November has usually been a time for Mousehunt to welcome it's new members in a sort of "Newcomer's Appreciation Month." While it is not official this year, take some time and find some newer hunters (if you're a veteran) who you can assist with your knowledge of the game.

Happy hunting!

Claw Shot City!

Round up some grub little doggies! Time to catch some vermin!

The Mousehunt Developers, about two weeks ago, released a new area called Claw Shot City. It is a completely new area with a completely new power type which is called "Law."

While there has been some angst among seasoned hunters about the new area, I for one love the new area, because it begins to address a problem that Mousehunt began to have after the release of the Fiery Warpath: Power Creep. Essentially, the more high power mice you create, you have to create more high power traps to catch them. And it keeps going and going and going. The problem is, how far is too far? One of the beauty of Mousehunt is that while there is a definite linear path to follow, you don't have to take this path necessarily. That being said, when you obtain the FW traps, you need little else for the most part. It cheapens the game, and it would cheapen new areas that were physical or tactical or hydro areas.

Enter Claw Shot City, where we are given a new trap, the Spring Loaded Attack Cactus, or SLAC for short. It's very weak. 300 power, only very modest bonuses. There is an upgrade, but it costs 500 fools gold (I currently have 325, so I'm still with SLAC 1), which can be obtained in the new area.

I will add a section to the FAQ on this part of the game once more portions of it are released. As of right now, it is very apparent that there is still more to come.

Event Season!

Event season!

Hello fellow Mousehunters! I apologize for not keeping up with this blog, I am in the process of looking for a different free hosting solution right now, not to mention the rigors of a busy life!

Ronza is currently visiting, and I'll be making a post shortly about the current state of the game, where Mousehunt is, how this veteran player views it, and where I think Mousehunt should go from here.

But for the time being, I am finally putting the finishing touches on the Living Garden FAQ. I know there are tons of guides out there, but I know that there are loyal readers here (I see page views and impressions, so I know you're out there, even returning visitors!) who appreciate the style in which I present the information. There are lots of good people who know a lot about this game for sure.

Today I will have the base and trap pages updated with new information! Happy hunting!

Developers modify The Living Garden, FAQ coming shortly

Not even a week after the Living Garden was released, the Hitgrab developers have already modified it, essentially making it necessary to do the mini-games, contrary to their initial statements that the mini-games were not required. While still true, ignoring the mini-games now, thanks to the changes, will slow your progress.

While I have my own feelings about this (which I'll share later), Thanksgiving is upon us (well, for us American hunters), and we are giving thanks for all the great things in their lives, one of which is the escapism of Mousehunt. There are many guides already out there about the Living Garden, and while some just offer information, my loyal readers know that what I give you is information, opinions, mixed in with a little humor along the way. Fear not, my FAQ will be updated by this weekend!

In the meantime, happy hunting to all my fellow Mousehunters!

P.S. I have updated the Base Analysis page, as well as Tactical and Shadow trap pages. Enjoy!

Living Garden released!

Welcome Mousehunters! I am still in the process of gathering information on what to do in the Living Garden and the new areas released yesterday! There are some preliminary guides on the forums, but my advice for everyone who has access is to just hunt in the Living Garden collecting basic essence and petals until we figure out exactly what's going on!

If you're here to check out the rest of the FAQ, mouse-over the "Pages" link above and pick the appropriate section!

Iceberg Dead Ahead!

Look out Mousehunters! There is an iceberg heading straight for Gnawnia! I will eventually get this section put into the normal FAQ, but for now, here is what's happening!

Head to the Slushy Shoreline and collect Interlocking Hull Fragments to upgrade the S.S. Huntington. This will give you access to the Iceberg, but please note that this is a joint effort on the part of all available hunters. The S.S. Huntington II will require 1,500,000 hull fragments across the community.

To attract the mice that drop these parts as well as loot needed for new traps (yah!), you need to use Softserve Charms, which are sold in the Charm Shoppe on the Seashore for 650 gold each.
The new trap is a nice hydro trap!

Steam Laser Mk. I ( 4,200 Hydro Power )Power type: Hydro
Power Bonus: 8%
Attraction Bonus: none
Luck: 14
Cheese Effect: No Effect

Loot needed:
5 Wire spool
5 Heating Oils
5 Frosty Metals

There will also be FOUR NEW BASES! WOOT!!

Magnet Base BlueprintsThese blueprints appear to describe the construction steps for a base made from powerful electromagnets, which would be excellent for attracting metal tool-carrying Tunnel Rats.

It requires Wire Spools, chunks of Frosty Metal, pots of Heating Oil, and an intense form of energy to power it.

Remote Detonator Base Blueprints
Whoah, this looks dangerous! The device described in these blueprints looks like it could detonate nearly any explosive remotely, which would certainly help with Bomb Squad Mice.

It requires Wire Spools, chunks of Frosty Metal, pots of Heating Oil, and an intense form of energy to power it.

Spiked Base Blueprints
Icy Brutes pack a surprising punch, but the base depicted on this blueprints looks like it can neutralize their knockback.

It requires Wire Spools, chunks of Frosty Metal, pots of Heating Oil, at least 50 pieces of Splintered Wood, and an intense form of energy to power it.

Hearthstone Base Blueprints
Warmth and comfort emanate from these blueprints, so much that it makes you wonder just how warm and comforting the base you build with it must be! Certainly enough to dissuade the crazed, distress-loving Zealot mice from visiting your trap.

It requires Wire Spools, chunks of Frosty Metal, pots of Heating Oil, and an intense form of energy to power it

Currently the blueprints are not available, but I'll update you as soon as I know something!

Hang on tight mousehunters!

Four new mice released!

Polar Bear

There are FOUR new mice that have popped up today in MouseHunt! All four are weak to hydro traps, and every other trap is listed as "Less Effective," though it should be pointed out that my initial testing has shown that the Sandtail Sentinel lists these mice as "Challenging" (even though it's physical) and the Double Diamond Adventure (a hydro trap) lists these mice as "Difficult." Take that for what its worth.

These four mice are currently in a group that is unlabled, only represented by (???) on the mice page. They are also (so far) known to be attracted to basic cheeses like brie and gouda.

New Mice Locations:
Gnawnia: Meadow, Town of Gnawnia, Windmill, Harbour, Mountain
Valour: King's Arms
Whisker Woods: Calm Clearing, Great Gnarled Tree
Burroughs: Laboratory, Town of Digby, Bazaar
Furoma: Training Grounds
Rodentia: S.S. Huntington II, Crystal Library
Tribal Isles: Cape Clawed
Sandtail Desert: Muridae Market (without Artisan charms)

Snow Bear

Incompetent Ice Climber Mouse (1,150 gold / 3,850 points)
Polar Bear Mouse (900 gold / 4,225 points)
Snow Soldier Mouse (1,200 gold / 3,995 points)
Wolfskie Mouse (1,100 gold / 4,850 points)

There is also a new inventory loot drop coming from these mice, a "War Scrap." You can find it in your "Special" inventory section. It is unknown at this time what this does.

More information coming soon!
